It should remind that in 2016 it was decided to close the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan as an independent research center. The decision on this issue included the creation of a special unit under the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which was supposed to be engaged in stopping the reactor and putting it out of operation. However, a few months later, a new government decision was adopted, according to which the Institute of Nuclear Physics was recreated, again inheriting all the assets of its predecessor.
The other day the government approved the structure of the revived Institute of Nuclear Physics.
It should note that the nuclear reactor operation service is the largest subdivision of the Institute. It will employ 35 people. In addition, this unit of the Institute as well as the second largest branch of the Institute - the Republican station of disposal of radioactive waste - will be fully contained at the expense of budget appropriations.
By the way, at the expense of budget allocations, the Institute will also include such units as the Neutron Generator Service, the Cyclotron Service, the Republican Central Isotope Laboratory, the Gamma Installation Service, the Radioactive Waste Disposal Service, the "U-003" Electronics Accelerator Service, and units that ensure the safe use of this equipment.
