The tax system of the Republic of Uzbekistan was studied by the mission within
10 days, after which preliminary recommendations on its further improvement.
The IMF experts conducted a seminar for the staff of the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the State Tax Committee, the State Customs Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its business members, auditors and tax advisors.

PP-3454 "On the forecast of the main macroeconomic indicators and parameters of the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2018" specifically points to the need to develop a Concept for improving the fiscal policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, taking into account the best foreign experience, including those aimed at ensuring transparency of the budget process.
The need for tax reform was emphasized and at the disposal of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, adopted on February 13, 2018, where the question related to organizational measures to radically improve tax legislation aimed at on further improvement of the tax system of the republic.
As part of the implementation of the tasks set by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to implement the reform of the tax system of the Republic, the Ministry of Finance invited experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in reforming the tax system of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
For the years of independence, this is the first case of cooperation in the field of tax policy between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Department of the International Monetary Fund on fiscal issues.
